Hailee Steinfeld for MIU MIU

We are completely in love with MIU MIU's new Fall/Winter 2011 campaign- shot by Bruce Weber and featuring 15 year old actress Hailee Steinfeld.
We absolutely adore Hailee, a true lady-in-the-making. We're not sure who is styling her- but they seem to get it dead on each time. These days it seems every hollywood actress under 25 is being pushed on to the red carpet looking like a high class hooker; wrapped up in teensy Herve Leger bandage dresses with tousled hair and sky-high platform Louboutins. Ms. Steinfeld likes to keeps her hair pulled back, shows little skin and often  keeps the hem line below the knee. Prim and proper, yet perfectly fashionable. Bravo.

Suzanne Rogers' Closet

Canadian philanthropist Suzanne Rogers' closet is a cupcake fashion fantasy.... think Chanel,Giambattista Valli, Alexander McQueen, Balmain....ya that's right- all those labels slighty beyond our reach. This woman has a pretty fierce closet and unlike her other counterparts featured on THE COVETEUR, she obviously has the budget to indulge in any sartorial whim (three nearly identical Balmain jackets? no problem) and to decorate like Marie Antionette on steriods.
She even has enough bubble-gum pink chanel bags to have a tea party. We can't figure out whether we love it or hate it. In any case, we're jealous.

Bee Eadie, Lady of Style

So I think we all agree that there are more than enough blogs out there featuring  skinny young things who snap away and show us their american apparel high waisted shorts in every outfit combination humanly possible, all while trying to look slightly jaded and "caught on the street". Enough already. And then there is Ms. Bee Eadie from ATLANTIC-PACIFIC, a breath of fresh fashion air, and a skinny young thing who does it lady-like all the way.  Bee's daily outfit posts effortlessly jump between edgy downtown rocker and as of late the more common "unapologetic uptown princess". Girl is rockin the layers and accessories like no other, showing them how preppy is really done and why it's so much cooler to be sophisticated. We especially love it when she heaps on the pearls and goes for old-school up dos. More please.

London based shoe designer Charlotte Dellal is a great example of a young Lady that transcends her so-called "It-girl" status and proves that fabulosity is not momentary and that style is eternal. Dellal has this amazing forties-inspired look that's at once simple, glamorous, quirky and super classy. Think old-hollywood wavy hair, red lipstick and red nails, hats and head pieces, and of course high high heels. She also scores massive points with us for doing leopard and doing it often, and well. Beyond the perfect styling we also love that she sports a sense of humour and playfullness- this is reflected in her designs for Charlotte Olympia as well. For her latest collection she looked to legendary Brazilian starlet Carmen Miranda aka "the woman in the Tutti-Futti hat". We're talking sky-high platform heels as pint-sized Carmen herself would always wear, banana clutches and fruit adorned shoes. oooh la la. 

Its no surprise that Charlotte has "chic" running through her veins- she's the daughter of Brazilian model turned socialite Andrea Dellal- a Lady of impeccable style who will eventually get her own mention here at the Lady Book. And it's not just her mother but her siblings as well who are fixtures on the international scene- younger sister Alice is a bit of a wild-child punk model famous for sporting a half shaved head and art-dealer brother Alex who has been Charlotte Casiraghi's boyfriend for years.

The Lady Book's favourite MET BALL 2011 pics! 

JENNIFER LOPEZ -  well, let's just face it- the girl knows how to do glam and isn't afraid to work it. Unlike many other starlets who try so desperately to look a little unkempt and "effortless", Lady Lopez is an unapologetic high maintenance old-school glam queen. We love it.
CHANEL IMAM- leave it to a model to do something different. We love this prim little look, it's dainty and lady-like in all the right ways. It's like afternoon tea + over the top sequins = MET fabulous.
DIANNE KRUGER- Ms. Kruger does glam like no one else, period. Here's yet another perfect example. Side-swept Hollywood hair, check. Diamonds, check. Red lip and red nails, check. Sequins, check. Vava-voom via that leg? check.
ISABEL LUCAS- No one else was quite as daring when it came to head pieces (excluding of course hard-core fashionistas like Anna Dello Russo and Daphne Guinness). After all the Royal Wedding hat hoop-la we would have thought the trend might slip over to the red carpet. Not the case- and so we have to give a shout out to Ms. Lucas, who could have worn a plain black sheath dress and still would have stolen the show. bravo!

Ashley Olsen at the 2011 MET GALA

Last night was the 2011 Metropolitan Costume Institute Gala in NYC and everyone was out in their finest and most daring. This ain't the Oscars folks.... (it's Christmas for fashionistas).

The Lady Book 'look of the night' has to go to Ashley Olsen in vintage Christian Dior haute couture. Seeing this dress makes me think the Olsen twins had wished Kate Middleton would have paid hommage to Princess Diana's wedding dress..... When this didn't happen, I guess they took it upon themselves. And voila- the most glamorous and perhaps one of the most daring gowns of the evening. Only an Olsen would have the confidence and know-how to pull off puffy sleeves like this and it's surprising that despite her diminuative stature the poof  doesnt overwhelm. We're sure this one will be a hotly debated "love it or hate it"- but as far as we're concerned it's classic Dior and drop dead chic.
